Fondant & Sugarpaste

So many times I am asked what is the difference between fondant and sugarpaste. The simple answer is nothing! The name 'Fondant' is what many countries call it and the name 'Sugarpaste' is used in a handful of countries including the UK. As the name fondant is more widely known around the world I have chosen to use it for this blog page and the tutorials. Fondant is an easy to use roll out sweet paste. It is used to cover cakes and make cake decorations. There are a number of different fondant brands on the market. You can buy it in a number of different colours too. I am often asked what my favourite fondant is and for me Carma Massa Ticino Tropic wins hands down everytime. I find it so easy to work with, it rolls nice and fine and it is also great in the hot weather. However, what works for me may not work for someone else. I always recommend you try a number of different pastes in all different ways and then decide on a favourite for you.
